Dr. Marcin N. Vaclaw has been invited by Memorial Hermann and the Ironman Institute to help assist at the 2014 Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas Triathlon. Dr. Vaclaw will be in the Main Medical tent helping athletes with foot and ankle pains and problems. Some common problems treated at the Ironman competition include blistering from the transition from water to wearing socks and shoes, tendon and ligament sprains and strains, tendonitis, metatarsal pain, heel pain, cuts on the foot and more.
The Ironman competition is a triathlon organized by the World Triathlon Commision (WTC) and is composed of a 2.4 mile swim. a 112 mile bicycle ride and a full marathon run (26.2 miles).
The medical tent at the Ironman is run by Dr. Alysia Robichau of Memorial Hermann Ironman Institute, The Woodlands, Texas. Dr. Robichau is one of the leaders in Sports Medicine in Houston. She will be watching over a crew of volunteer nurses, doctors and medical staff, keeping each and every athlete on their feet and “A Step Ahead”!
